You could accuse us of being traffic whores for putting “porno” in one headline and “cronut” in the next, and you might be right. After all, we’re not even sure the cronut (sorry, Cronut™) is all that buzzworthy now that there’s an albeit Obamacare-esque online ordering system. But even if the cronut (sorry, Cronut™) has jumped the sharknado, we have to confess we still haven’t tried one. So we’re kind of psyched that they’re coming to our backyard.
The New Museum’s new cafe got its hands on about 50 of Dominique Ansel’s trademarked treats and is offering a Cronut-and-coffee special tomorrow. Starting at 11 a.m., you’ll be able to pop into the museum — at 235 Bowery, right below Stanton — to place an order for pick-up later in the day, between 2 p.m. and 9 p.m.
$6 gets you the one cronut per customer and a cup of Intelligentsia coffee. Or you could dunk a bunch of donuts instead.
Update, 12:15 p.m.: The folks at Hester Street Fair, who operate the cafe, just wrote in with some details about securing one of these bad boys:
The first 50 people who purchase this special will receive a numbered wristband and will be able to come back at 2pm to get their fresh cup of Intelligentsia coffee and a Cronut from Dominique Ansel Bakery.
On top of that, we’ll also be giving away Cronuts up at our Holiday Market at Eventi starting at 3pm. The first 50 who purchase a gift of $30 or more will get a Cronut on the spot.
