After dropping the delightfully surreal video for “Hop” in January and following up with another trippy one, “Children,” in February, Brooklyn synth-pop act The Henry Millers released a single, “Posies” — off their forthcoming LP of the same name — last month.
Now that they’re back from SXSW, they’re doing a few hometown shows: they’ll hit Cameo Gallery tonight at 11 p.m., Mercury Lounge (with Walking Shapes) on May 5, and Knitting Factory (opening for The Middle Eight) on June 7. Tonight’s show is the one you’ll want to catch, if only because it’s, aptly, a stone’s throw from Henry Miller’s old place in Williamsburg.
And just why did harmonizing vocalists John MacCallum and Katie Schecter — who have a sort of Matt and Kim vibe going on — adopt the name of the famously randy writer for their band? Well, this photo of them in bed, jamming sans jammies, should give you some idea…
