Trying to overcome your nagging perfectionism? At an upcoming sample sale in Greenpoint, you can buy all sorts of jewelry that’s soon-to-be discontinued, or flaunting lovable mistakes.
“It’s kind of Frankenstein versions of a lot of the things we have in the collection—things that resemble collection items but didn’t make the cut because they weren’t quite right,” said Emily Ruane, publicist for Erica Weiner. “One-of-a-kind experiments, basically.”
Park Slope born Erica Weiner started her jewelry business eight years ago, making simple brass charm necklaces at her kitchen table. Now she has Nolita and Boerum Hill boutiques and an second luxe line.
The sample same is happening on Saturday and Sunday at her Greenpoint studio in Dobbin Mews, a converted stable from the 1880s. Ruane said there will be at least 100 different pieces of costume jewelry–mostly brass or gold-plated–and the stock will be replenished throughout the weekend. All of the rings, bracelets, necklaces and earrings featured originally retailed for under $100 and have been reduced by up to 50 percent.
Sadly, there won’t be any set-in-stone misspellings to nab (on Instagram, Lena Dunham posted a pic of her Erica Weiner Heartbeats Necklace emblazoned with the lyric “AFTER THE PARTY ITS THE HOTEL LOBBY” from the R.Kelly song “Ignition.” We were lusting for “AFTER THE PARTY ITS THE HOTEL SLOBBY”).
But there will be “tiny erotic plastic keychains we got in France,” said Ruane.
50 Dobbin St. b/t Norman & Nassau Ave., Sat. to Sun. 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
