Richard Kern, the East Village’s sultan of sleaze, just posted the video he made with Brussels-based Scottish artist Lucy McKenzie during her six-month residency with Lower East Side non-profit The Artist’s Institute.
This curious clip, written by McKenzie, makes Kern the second Bedford + Bowery Newsroom speaker who’s plugged a tampon company (Andrew WK was the other). (Though we’re not sure Mooncup actually commissioned this, and the British brand makes silicone cups, not tampons — this absurd Mooncup vs. Tampons rap battle should clear that up.) Watch the short film (starring McKenzie as Agatha Christie’s detective, Miss Marple) for a police procedural that’s so eery it makes True Detective look like Matlock. (If you’re watching at work, be warned: things do get Kerny at the end.)
