Salami snapbacks. Pastrami pullovers. It can only mean one thing: a collaboration between iconic New York salami slinger Katz’s Delicatessen and the Brooklyn-based streetwear label МИШКА.

To celebrate the 125th anniversary of Katz’s, МИШКА released a cured-meats capsule collection featuring original graphic t-shirts, crewnecks, hoodies, snapbacks, and beanies. The exclusive apparel launched last night at the Katz’s pop-up at 203 East Houston. Despite the unfairly freezing temperatures, a mix of skaters and downtown kids surfaced to warm up with free cans of Rolling Rock and music from Nick Hook and Aharaw.

The space also debuted original artwork from L’Amour Supreme, Katy Ziegel, Lee Trice, Micah NYC, Solomon Alexander, and The Sucklord, which all paid tribute to the famous deli. Much like the pairing of salted meats and streetwear, the art proved equally irreverent: evoking pop culture references from When Harry Met Sally all the way to Rihanna.

“I mean it’s a romance between the two New York institutions,” explained one attendee, appropriately drunk and dressed in a Death Adders varsity jacket. “It’s food. It’s fashion. It’s funny.”

The collection certainly stayed true to the МИШКА signature style but with a brisket bent. Most of the pieces feature the bloodshot “Keep Watch” eyeball (encircled in sausage links, naturally), a horned and angry zombie butcher, or pot-smoking pickles.

You can check out the collection on the МИШКА website and while you are there don’t forget to send a salami — or a snapback — to your boy in the army.
