An unidentified body was pulled from the rubble of 121 Second Avenue this afternoon.
An official tells ABC News, one of the first to report the development, that 730 cubic yards of debris has been sifted through and removed from the corner of Seventh Street and Second Avenue, where three buildings collapsed Thursday, injuring 22 people.
The grim discovery, made around 1pm, came as news outlets had turned their attention to a gaggle of girls — dubbed “Village Idiots” on the cover of today’s Post — who took a cheerful selfie at the site of the apparent gas explosion.
Two men, Nicholas Figueroa and Moises Ismael Locón Yac, are still unaccounted for in the wake of the tragedy.
Second Avenue remains closed to vehicular traffic from East Houston to East 14th Street. Near the corner of Second Avenue and East Houston, Cram Concepts painted the above tribute to the East Village in partnership with the Centre-Fuge project.
