Good morning, folks, and welcome to the Blizzain’t of 2015. The ban on non-emergency vehicles has been lifted and “there are limited trains running,” according to the MTA, which says LIRR, Metro-North, and bus and subway service will be “gradually restored this morning.” That means this poor bastard, spotted in the East Village before the ban was lifted around 7:35 a.m., can get off his bike.
MTA service will operate on a Sunday schedule (about 60 percent of normal service) today and on a full weekday schedule tomorrow. As you can see above, Tompkins Square Park has reopened to dogs and humans alike. We’ll have updates on openings and closings throughout the day.
Meantime, here’s what the East Village looked like shortly after sunrise today.
