It was clear from the get-go that Gestations, “NYC’s First Bar for Pregnant Women,” was merely a marketing stunt. But for good measure, we asked the State Liquor Authority if anyone had applied for a liquor license at 504 East Fifth Street, as claimed on the “Public Notice” posted on the window.

The answer, of course, is that the notice was a big fat lie. An SLA spokesperson told us today, “As you assumed, we have no application for this location. Additionally, the serial number listed is fictitious.”

So rest assured there won’t be a bar on the corner of East 5th Street and Avenue A, for pregnant women or otherwise.

When we passed by earlier today, the “Public Notice” had been taken down and a reporter for the Post was camped out trying to find out who was behind the stunt. Meanwhile, Gestations still has just four followers on Twitter, including two ad people and one “24-years-young” blonde girl who suspiciously mentions the Bartrendr app in all of her tweets. But dude, who cares if this is fake when the Facebook updates are this hilarious, bro: “Will have free pregnancy test kits when you buy a pitcher.”
