Here’s the latest mural on the facade of Ideal Glass in the East Village. It’s by Paul Kostabi, a former guitarist for White Zombie who collaborated on paintings with Dee Dee Ramone.
According to a statement accompanying the piece, “A Murder of Crows” is the longtime Villager’s “homage to the gritty yet colorful life of the East Village, one that is fast disappearing. Others may see darkness for grittiness; Kostabi sees a dark cloud of crows waiting to feast on the intangible feeling of community, leaving only inert property speculation in its wake.”
Just in case you were looking for a more colorful way to say “gentrification.”
