Ever since we heard rice burgers were coming to the East Village, we’ve been on the story like white on, well, you know. But as anyone who has made rice before can tell you, a watched pot never boils. Short of boiling, Yonekichi has recently got its storefront in order.
When we stopped by this afternoon, the location looked good-to-go (minus the trash bag out front) and the woman behind the counter was getting busy with a battalion of brightly colored sticky notes—presumably jotting down things to do before the opening.

Speaking of opening, we previously reported that the Grand Opening would be held on August 18. That date still holds, although we’re now told a soft opening could be happening the weekend beforehand, on Friday, August 15.
The sooner the better as far as I’m concerned. Miso salmon burger and plum kombu potato wedges, come at me.
