Fresh off a residency at Rockwood Music Hall, New York natives Hurrah! A Bolt of Light! are not, in fact, Cold War Kids, though they might as well be. These guys play indie rock that’s a little bit of everything—a little bit country, a little bit rock and roll. You know the drill. British poly-pop foursome Glass Animals are fresh off their debut album release, and are beginning to gain attention in the States. The music is dark and bouncy at the same time, kind of like fellow Brit-rockers Alt-J. If you can’t make this show, they’ll be back in September for a show in Brooklyn. Bowery Ballroom, Lower East Side, Monday, July 7 at 9 p.m., tickets $13
Oh Land may not be a household name, but you’ve probably heard her song “Sun of a Gun.” She’s Nanna Oland Fabricus, a Danish singer-songwriter who makes danceable, smart, catchy pop in the vein of Florence or the Ting Tings. Plus, she’s eccentric—the perfect combo for a fun live show.

Sky Ferreira gets tangled up in controversy so often that it’s starting to get annoying. Then again, what rock star doesn’t? The 21-year-old California native’s album Night Time, My Time was on many best-of lists in 2013, and for good reason. She’s made an unapologetically badass brand of pop-rock that’s hard to come by these days. Music Hall of Williamsburg, Williamsburg, Wednesday, July 9 at 9 p.m., tickets $25
Granted, this show is a little out of the way—it’s in south Manhattan on Pier 15—but trust us, it’s totally worth the commute. Escort is one of the most underrated bands today. Oh yeah, it’s disco. Funky, sharp disco. Get over it. They’re Brooklyn natives with an ear for mad hooks and crazy, unpredictable beats. Their shows are basically smoke-machine-filled, disco-ball-glowing dance parties.
